I am Safiya Faris Mohamed. I have completed two years of Islamic Sharia, and this has been an amazing advantage for me as a Muslim psychologist. I have completed my BSs in Psychology and my MSc in Clinical Child Psychology. I am also a member as a psychologist with BPS.
I started my career as a teacher then moved to a senior teacher while I was counseling as a general counselor at a clinic in Sri Lanka. Currently, I am working as a Mental health recovery worker for a reputed and large Mental health service provider in the UK.
I make sure to maintain cultural sensitivity when it comes to everything and anything I do.
Many individuals prefer therapy that aligns with their religious beliefs. By incorporating Islamic principles into my practice, I am able to provide a framework that resonates with clients seeking guidance in accordance with their faith.
In terms of dealing with young adults, I have been a senior teacher for 5 years and I have seen how these young adults open up to me and come to me for their problems which makes me believe that I am definitely suitable to deal with them and my Msc in clinical child psychology says the same.
Services I Offer
Faith-Based Counseling, provide counseling services that integrate Islamic teachings and principles, addressing issues such as anxiety, depression, and stress within the framework of Islamic beliefs.
Crisis Intervention, provide support during times of crisis, such as grief, loss, or trauma, using a holistic approach that includes both psychological and spiritual dimensions.
Spiritual Growth and Well-Being, assist individuals in their spiritual journey, helping them develop a deeper connection with their faith and integrating spiritual practices into their daily lives for enhanced well-being.
Youth and Identity Development, assist young individuals in navigating the challenges of identity formation, peer pressure, and societal expectations, while incorporating Islamic perspectives on personal development.
Not everybody is in a crisis, and you don't have to be in a crisis to get Mental health support. I use my psychology knowledge as a psychologist to help people identify their mental capacity and how to overcome challenges and deal with day-to-day stress so that this does not lead to a major consequence.
I also believe healing does not require medication all the time, healing can be done through talking, drawing, meditating, listening to Quran and in many beautiful healthy ways. And as a psychologist have experience in helping individuals heal through different methods.
