About Me
Having been born and raised in Germany, I - Al-hamdu li-llah - embraced Islam over 30 years ago. Throughout my life, I have had the privilege of living, studying, and working in diverse cultural environments across Europe and the Middle East. These experiences have enabled me to develop invaluable intercultural understanding, which greatly contribute to my work. For over twenty years, I have immersed myself in the study of Islamic sciences. Seventeen of those years were spent in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where I obtained my Bachelor's and Master's degrees (M.Jur.) in Islamic theology and law from Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud University. Throughout my journey, I have dedicated myself to deepening my understanding of this profound field. Furthermore, I have received extensive training and development in diverse sub-fields of psychology and psychotherapy, with a particular emphasis on clinical psychology and cognitive behavioral therapy. Over the span of 15 years, I have gained invaluable practical experience in delivering Islamic pastoral care. Since 2018, I have been professionally engaged as a psychological counsellor and coach.
In today's world, there is a widespread availability of psychological knowledge and professionals such as psychologists, psychiatrists, and therapists. However, despite this availability, many societies still lack professionals who possess a deep understanding of Muslims, their religion, their diverse cultural backgrounds, and the unique psychological needs that arise from these realities.
In the modern world, it is crucial to not only provide expert assistance but also to emphasise the importance of comprehending and respecting the religious and cultural contexts of our clients and patients. A lesser-known aspect - especially in German-speaking countries - even within the Muslim professional community, is a profound understanding of Islamic theology. Unfortunately, the potential of utilizing Islamic faith-based approaches as valuable resources for Muslim clients and patients thus remains largely untapped in psychological care.
Utilizing my expertise in theology and psychology, my aim is to offer Islamic psychological approaches and resources to Muslim clients and patients. In this pursuit, I collaborate closely with both Muslim and non-Muslim psychologists, psychiatrists, and therapists to achieve optimal outcomes for Muslims in therapy, counseling, and coaching. I integrate evidence-based methods with culture-sensitive and faith-based approaches, ensuring that our services are both effective and respectful of individual beliefs and values.
