5 July 2022 at 5:31 pmBeing a mother of two, I considered myself a veteran. However, Sana’s course opened up a new aspect of parenting to me. I assumed ‘respectful parenting’ would essentially give me a cheat sheet of do’s and don’t’s; and, how best to handle tantrums. But it was so much more than that. What really struck a cord with me was the lens shift – a complete change of perspective. And that is the first and most fundamental, I believe, in the journey to RP. Sana dealt with each aspect of RP with utmost professionalism and patience. She guided, and consistently facilitated, all participants to re-analyze our traditional parenting methods. Moreover, she also delved into the much neglected aspects of mom-shame and guilt. I learned that by taking care of myself, I am setting a safe and stable platform for my children. I also noticed that Sana’s approach was based around gentle facilitation rather than being intrusive. Instead of giving direct answers she’d very patiently ask open ended questions. This helped us find answers to our queries based upon our personal experiences. Every participant was able to personalize the knowledge gleaned from the course according to their situations, household set-up, and even triggers. Most importantly it pushed me towards my own healing journey. Thank you, Sana for giving us this lifelong gift. I hope to live up to it, and pass it on to my children as a worthy example. Insha’Allah.
